VA - Synthesizer Tribute to Depeche Mode (2009)

(info z portalu http://depechemode.pl)
Jest to wspólne dzieło artystów z Niemiec, Szwecji, Rumunii, Finlandii i przede wszystkim Polski, którą reprezentują Galaxy Hunter, Space Project, Krzysztof Radomski, Vocoderion i A.M. Samurai.

Vanity Fair - A Place In The Sun (1983)(2006)

Zespół Vanity Fair to angielska wersja szwedzkiej grupy Lustans Lakejer. A Place in the Sun to album z 1983 roku, oryginalnie wydany jako En plats i solen, a tutaj mamy wersję remastered z bonusowymi nagraniami zaśpiewaną po angielsku z gościnnym udziałem Micka Karna z grupy Japan.

Lustans Lakejer were re-named to VANITY FAIR for the English market. Guest appearance by Mick Karn from legendary JAPAN. It sold very little at the time and has been an very expensive rarity on vinyl for the last 20 years. Great Swedish new romantic 1983 album.

Lustans Lakejer is a Swedish New Wave group formed in 1978 led by singer-songwriter Johan Kinde. They were successful throughout the 1980s, but by the 1990s, their popularity began to decline, and the members split up. In 2007, Lustans Lakejer reunited to perform the "Allt vi trodde på" in Melodifestivalen's second semifinal for the opportunity to represent Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 in Helsinki, Finland. The band failed to make the top five and was voted off the contest on 10 February before final voting.

Crash Course In Science - Signals From Pier Thirteen & Demos (1981)

Crash Course In Science were a post punk band formed in 1979 in Philadelphia. They avoided the sounds of conventional instrumentation by using toy instruments and kitchen appliances to augment the distorted guitar, drums and synthesised beats. Championed by local radio station WXPN DJ Lee Paris they recorded the single "Cakes In The Home" (with the B-side containing "Kitchen Motors" and "Mechanical Breakdown") for his Go Go label. This was followed by "Signals From Pier Thirteen" in 1981 produced by John Wicks at Third Story Recordings.

The Twins - Live In Sweden (2005)

In 1980, Sven Dohrow and Ronny Schreinzer decided to put a new band together, after they had played in various bands as a guitar-player and a drummer.
In the beginning they were inspired by bands like Tubeway Army, Gary Numan, OMD and Depeche Mode.
Their first single "The Desert Place" turned out to be a real dancefloor-smasher in Germany and the remixed long-version of this song entered the US-Billboard-Dance-Charts in 1981. The big European breakthrough came when they entered the Italian charts with their song "Face To Face" and it was one of the best-selling singles in Italy 1983.
After "Face To Face" they hit the Italian charts a few more times with songs like "Not the loving kind" and "Ballet Dancer". Due to the success in many European countries, some of the German radiostations started playing their songs and all of a sudden the TWINS had a chart-hit with "Ballet Dancer". During these days it was very unusual for a German dancefloor-band to have success in their own country. However, they next titles to hit the German charts were "Love System" and "Love in the Dark".
Due to their big success, Sven and Ronny had to put together a live-band because the fans wanted to see them on stage as well. The TWINS had the chance to prove that they were no "one-hit-wonder" and according to their fans, their live-act was worth the money. They did many tours throughout Europe with their new five piece band, including a drummer who turned every show into an exciting event due to his powerful support for every TWINS song. A bit later the band set-up was changed again. The fact that Ronny had played drums for many years, enabled the TWINS to add more excitement to the bands live-shows by adding a few parts for two drummers.
By the end of 1987 after the TWINS had released their album "Hold on to your dreams" they were offered to do a tour in the Soviet Union which brought them to Moskow and Leningrad. During these 10 concerts the had the opportunity to play in front of a 120.000 people audience.
After the tour was finished Sven and Ronny decided to take a break and to produce some other artists in their own studios. In 1991 the TWINS had their "comeback" when they released a remix album of their greatest hits which was called "The ClassicsRemixed". The success of this CD was overwhelming and they thought that it's about time to put together a new album as well.
It took them nearly two years to finish this next album because they wanted to make the album as good as possible. The album was called "The Impossible Dream" and the song "Tonight" which was also featured on the album, made them hit the charts once again.
To complete their line of greatest hits CD's, they released the "12inch Classics"-CD in '94, which features many long-versions and mixes based on their greatest hits.
In recent years the TWINS played a few concerts in Germany with their new live-band.

Silicon Teens - Music For Parties (1980)

Who would have thought that the same gent responsible for the Normal's "Warm Leatherette" -- the classic, whip-cracking electronic ode to J.G. Ballard's auto-erotic novel Crash -- would follow it up several months later with a small clutch of singles covering '50s and '60s rock classics? And who would have thought that it would lead to a full LP? Inspection of the artwork fools you into thinking that the Silicon Teens are a quartet of Darryl, Jacki, Paul, and Diane. Though it sounds like a group of enthusiastic youngsters bent on giving straight-faced, faithful synthpop renditions of tunes like "Memphis, Tennessee" and "You've Really Got Me," the concept of the group is illusory. There's actually one Silicon Teen -- Mute honcho Daniel Miller. Music for Parties is an undeniably fun record in its complete lack of irony and shameless giddiness. The covers aren't jokes; it sounds like a group of kids having a blast with classic rock & roll. It's well produced, well played, and well intentioned -- no winkie winkie here, a` la Moog Cookbook. There's a handful of originals as well; "T.V. Playtime" is sinister, sounding like a commercial for a board game; "Sun Flight" is hallucinatory with Darryl sounding like a cross between Gizmo and Darth Vader. The sound is dated after all, but with the mid- to late-'90s resurgence of the '80s synth sound, one could definitely think it to be a product of modern times. Acts like the Rentals and the Pulsars (who even devoted a song to the Silicon Teens) certainly took a cue from this. There's more life in this record than plenty of guitar-based efforts of the era. Four months after the release of Music for Parties, Miller/Darryl signed a group of waif-ish youths by the name of Depeche Mode.

Alphaville - Despues De La Derrota (1999)

Pięciu kolegów postanowiło połączyć swoją kreatywność z dźwiękami post punku i new wave plus subtelność gotyckiej atmosfery lat 80tych i oto co otrzymaliśmy.

Alphaville tworzyli: José Luis Fernández Abel (ideolog, głos, gitara), José Luis Orfanel (gitara), Daniel Mendialdúa (bas), Juan Antonio Nieto (perkusja i instrumenty perkusyjne) i Jose Carlos - Charles - Sanchez (instrumenty klawiszowe, trąbka, harmonijka, skrzypce).

Kajagoogoo & Limahl - 12inch Collection (1998)

1000 OHM - The Singles 1979-1988

1000 Ohm/1000 Ω was a Belgian new wave/dark wave band.

Founded by Frank Van Bogaert back in 1979, 1000 Ohm was one of the most successful Belgian 80’s New Wave bands. Key members were Johan Van Herck on keyboards, Koen Van Assche on drums, Erwin Vermeulen on Bass and Frank on keyboards and vocals. Their best known track and still a New Wave Ever Green up to this day is the 1981 track A.G.N.E.S. Although the band had more successes like the 1985 charting hit “The Claim”, it’s A.G.N.E.S. the band is mostly being remembered for . In 1987 Frank decided to pull the plug to concentrate on what was to become a very successful career as producer-sound engineer, later followed by a successful career in the Electronic music scene. He is now even being considered as one of the main players in the traditional electronic and ambient music scene.

Breakfast Club - Breakfast Club (1987)

Oczywiście miało to miejsce przed jej światową karierą. Późniejsze utwory Madonny trochę (!) przypominają kompozycje Breakfast Club, posłuchajcie Never Be The Same, ten rytm wyraźnie coś mi przypomina...

The group was formed in New York in the late 1970s, and went through several line-ups including one in which Madonna was the drummer. By the early 1980s, the band included Madonna, Angie Smit on bass, and the Gilroy brothers, Dan and Ed, both on guitar (Dan sang lead vocals as well). Dan Gilroy was also briefly Madonna's boyfriend, and he eventually allowed her to sing some lead vocals. Madonna ultimately left to form a new band Emmy, but the remaining members soldiered on. By the mid 1980s, the band consisted of the Gilroys (with Dan now concentrating exclusively on vocals, while Ed provided all guitars), Gary Burke (bass), Paul Kauk (keyboards), and Stephen Bray (drums). Both Bray and Burke had previously been Madonna's bandmates in Emmy. Bray had also dated Madonna for a while, and reportedly, Madonna had initially suggested him as her replacement in Breakfast Club.[citation needed] They signed with Ze Records and released their eponymous album in 1987, which spawned the U.S. Top Ten hit "Right On Track". Later, Randy Jackson (bass) and E. Doctor Smith (The Drummstick, percussion) joined the band.

A second album was recorded but never released. Their last single was a cover version of The Beatles' song "Drive My Car", used in the film, License to Drive. Shortly afterwards the band broke-up. Bray later co-wrote several big hits with Madonna. They were nominated in the category of Best New Artist at the Grammy Awards in 1988, losing out to Jody Watley. Many of their music videos, including "Right on Track," were filmed by Jeff Stein, director of The Who documentary, The Kids Are Alright.

Landscape - Manhattan Boogie-Woogie (1982)

After leaving the soft rock band Easy Street, Richard Burgess formed a slick synth pop/jazz group called Landscape in 1975. In addition to Burgess, who sang and played drums, Landscape included Andy Pask (bass), Chris Heaton (keyboards), John Walters (keyboards, woodwinds), and Pete Thomas (trombone, keyboards).

After building a following through touring, the band released its self-titled debut in 1980, which sold rather poorly. 1981's From the Tea-Rooms of Mars...to the Hell-Holes of Uranus firmly accented synthesizers as the focus of Landscape's sound, and they scored a Top Five U.K. hit with "Einstein A-Go-Go."
1982's Manhattan Boogie-Woogie was the group's most danceable effort, but by the following year, the lineup had been pared down to a trio, and the band broke up for good in 1984. Burgess had already begun a production career, working with artists like Spandau Ballet, Living in a Box, Visage, and King.
~ Steve Huey, All Music Guide

Landscape were formed in the mid 70's and released two independent releases before signing to RCA Records in 1979. The band were pioneer users/experimenters of the changes in music technology at the time, utilising computers and electronic drum kits etc. The band released 3 albums and enjoyed a worldwide hit single with the incredibly catchy ‘Einstein A GoGo' in 1981… The first UK reissues of these two influential albums by electronic pop pioneers, Landscape.

Manhattan Boogie-Woogie is the third and final album by Landscape and was released in 1982. It is the only Landscape album that does not include any instrumental tracks.

Living In A Box - Living In A Box (1987)

Grupa Living In The Box i ich debiut płytowy zostaną zapamiętani dzięki tytułowej piosence, dobrze skrojonym garniturom (video) oraz mieszance stylów post new romantic, soul i funk.

The British pop-funk group Living in a Box boomed onto MTV in 1987 with a song named after themselves. Featuring Richard Darbyshire (vocals/guitar), Marcus Vere (synthesizers), and Anthony Critchlow (drums), the band had only one Top 40 single in the U.S., "Living in a Box"; in the U.K., however, the group was far more successful.

Living in a Box formed in Sheffield, England in 1985. Darbyshire originally sang for the band the Zu Zu Sharks in the early '80s. Given the choice between a solo career or fronting Living in a Box for Chrysalis Records, Darbyshire selected the latter. Living in a Box received a five-year contract from the label; in 1987, the group released their self-titled debut LP. In 1989, the band recorded a second album, Gatecrashing; the songs "Blow the House Down" and "Room in Your Heart" were Top Ten hits in Britain. But changes at Chrysalis caused artistic differences during the production of their third LP. Living in a Box broke up in 1990 before their third album was completed. In 1994, Darbyshire released his solo debut, How Many Angels, an LP that included several tracks, such as "Better to Have Lost," that were intended for Living in a Box's third album.

Hohokam - The Singles (1984-1986)

NumaRecords/Hohokam

British 80s synthpop band produced by Gary Numan's label "Numa Records". Primary band members were Dave Earl (guitar), Steve Devier (vocals), Tony Alum (drums) and George Kamm (synths & bass). After George Kamm left the group Gary Numan's in house studio sound engineer Andy Reilly joined the band as drummer and Tony Alum took over keyboard duties. Soon after that Steve Devier departed and Skip Collins took over vocal duties, this line up went on to record the never released album "Seven Deadly Sins".

Stabilizers - Tyranny (1986)

The Stabilizers were a pop/rock duo founded in the early 1980s by musicians Dave Christenson and Rich Nevens. With Christenson on lead vocals and Nevens on guitars and occasional keyboards, they spent the first few years touring the Pennsylvania area and recording original compositions on a 4-track recorder. Then, in 1985, they were signed to Columbia Records and in 1986, released Tyranny, their first and only album.

The guitar and synth-laced album followed in the style of other 1980s bands such as A-Ha, Duran Duran, Tears for Fears and Mr. Mister. The first single from Tyranny was “One Simple Thing,” which peaked at number 21 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart and number 93 on the Billboard Hot 100, helped by the band’s performance of the song on American Bandstand. Two music videos were released to promote the album: “One Simple Thing”, which was directed by David Fincher—who would go onto greater success directing the feature films Alien³, Se7en and Fight Club and “Tyranny,” filmed by renowned music video director David Hogan.

The “Tyranny” single failed to chart, and for the next five years, the band disappeared from view. Then, in 1991, an unreleased track from the Tyranny sessions, “Maybe This Time,” surfaced on the soundtrack to the film If Looks Could Kill, but that was the last anyone would hear from the band.
